1. Pressure Regulator
High pressure pumps are equipped with a component known as a pressure regulator. This component is responsible for distributing the pressure created by the pump to each outlet line.
A pressure regulator makes it possible to connect multiple outlet lines to a single pump without sacrificing water pressure. A sudden loss in pressure could be indicative of a faulty pressure regulator.
Replacing a worn or damaged pressure regulator will allow your high pressure pump to begin functioning properly once again.
2. Pump Drive
The pump drive is the heart of any high pressure pump. It is the pump drive that helps create the power needed for the pump to pressurize water properly.
Pump drives come in varying sizes. You must be sure that your pump drive is sized appropriately based on the pressure, flow, and efficiency of your pump. If demand on the pump itself has increased but the pump drive hasn't been updated, a loss of pressure could occur.
You may also notice a loss in pressure if the belts on the pump drive have slipped out of place or become worn. Replace the belts or upgrade to a larger pump drive to restore proper pressure.
3. Pump Inlet
The pump inlet is another area that can contribute to a loss in pressure when using a high pressure pump.
Check the filter on the inlet line. A quality filter is needed to eliminate any large particles or debris from incoming water before it is pressurized by the pump. If the filter is clogged, water input will slow and the pressure will drop.
Regularly clean and replace the filter to ensure poor water input doesn't compromise your ability to use a high pressure pump effectively.
If you rely on a high pressure pump to complete vital tasks, you must be able to troubleshoot your pump when a loss of pressure occurs. Knowing where to look is the first step in getting your pump back up-and-running once again.
